Your First Clue: The LinkedIn Dress Code Audit
Share
Before you even worry about dry cleaning, you need to know the culture of the company you're interviewing with. Sending the wrong signal with your attire is one of the quickest ways to distract a hiring manager.
The easiest and most strategic way to decode the office culture? The LinkedIn Audit.
Before your interview, spend five minutes auditing the profiles of people who currently hold the role you want, or those one level above it. Look closely at their profile pictures and any public company event photos.
This simple search gives you a clear rule of thumb:
If the majority of leaders are wearing blazers, tailored separates, and open-collar button-downs (no ties), the company is signaling a Business Casual environment.
If you consistently see full suits, ties, and impeccably tailored dresses, your default should be Business Professional.
The Strategy: Don't guess. Your attire is your first piece of communication. Use the evidence you find on LinkedIn to ensure your look is perfectly aligned with the executive presence required for the job.
